As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform global economies and governance systems, Africa has a critical opportunity to define its own path, one rooted in sovereignty, inclusion and innovation. Harnessing open-source technologies and aligning policy frameworks will be key to building AI ecosystems that reflect local realities and drive sustainable development across the continent.

To support this vision, the Global Center on AI Governance, in partnership with Meta is launching a set of policy briefs accompanied by a three-part webinar series. These conversations will bring together policymakers, researchers and technologists to explore how Africa can leverage open innovation, ethical governance, and strategic collaboration to help shape a more equitable and future-ready AI landscape for Africa.
