About

HURIDOCS is a non-governmental organization that empowers human rights groups to organise, analyse, and use information. It leverages AI in its Uwazi platform, where HURIDOCS automates data categorization and pattern recognition.

Impact

HURIDOCS has had significant impact on human rights documentation by integrating AI into its Uwazi platform, automating document tagging, categorisation, and metadata extraction. This dramatically accelerates data processing, reduces manual workload, and enables advocates to uncover patterns and insights, making large-scale human rights documentation more efficient, accessible, and actionable.

Responsible AI practices

HURIDOCS cautiously integrate AI into their workflow, while fundamentally informed by a human rights-based approach focused on user needs. The organisation integrates human oversight, with UPR Info staff manually reviewing and validating the tags suggested by the AI before they are published. They also experiment with AI on low-risk issues, such as analysing and tagging existing content rather than generating new content, minimising negative impact. There is also a feedback loop where users can contact UPR Info to flag any errors, which are then manually resolved.
