EIDU is a modular digital education platform for low-cost Android devices, offering locally aligned content, digital assessments, and offline access. It personalises learning for each child using AI algorithms, supports teachers and trainers with lesson planning and feedback tools, and provides real-time system dashboards for government ministries.

Impact

EIDU maximises student learning outcomes in Kenya, with preliminary RCT data showing significant improvement (SD=0.43). Operating in 21 Kenyan counties and supporting over 350,000 learners, they aim for impact at scale, also increasing digital literacy and engagement.

Responsible AI practices

EIDU’s responsible AI practices prioritise necessity, deploying AI only when essential and rigorously evaluating impact via A/B tests and RCTs. They mitigate bias by analysing demographic data (gender, location, age) to ensure equitable model performance. Updates undergo beta testing and qualitative feedback before scaling, ensuring proven learning improvements. This cautious, evidence-based approach fosters reliable, inclusive educational tools.
